How to Combine Multiple Sheets into One in Google Sheets

Monthly tabs, one sheet per store, survey responses split across several sheets – sooner or later you need it all in one table. Copy-paste breaks as soon as the columns are in a different order, and QUERY or {Sheet1!A:D; Sheet2!A:D} formulas need identical columns. Combine Sheets is a Google Sheets add-on that merges tabs into one sheet and matches columns by their header.

How to combine multiple sheets into one in Google Sheets

  1. Install Combine Sheets from the Google Workspace Marketplace (Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons, search “Combine Sheets”).
  2. Open Extensions > Combine Sheets > Combine sheets.
  3. Tick the sheets (tabs) you want to merge.
  4. Choose options and click Combine sheets. The result goes to a new sheet – your original tabs stay untouched.

Or use Quick combine: all visible sheets from the menu.

Example

January has columns Order, Customer, Email, Total. February has Customer, Order, Total, Email, Country – a different order and one extra column. Combine Sheets lines them up by header:

Source sheetOrderCustomerEmailTotalCountry
January1001Anna Novakanna@mail.com$120
February1003Chloe Diazchloe@mail.com$240ES

Options

  • Match columns by header name or by position
  • Add a “Source sheet” column so you know where each row came from
  • Skip empty rows
  • Remove duplicate rows while combining
  • Include hidden sheets if you want

Free vs Pro

The free version combines up to 3 sheets and 500 rows per run. Pro combines any number of sheets and rows for a one-time payment – no subscription: get Combine Sheets Pro.

FAQ

Do the tabs need the same columns? No. Columns are matched by header name, extra columns are added and missing values stay empty.

Will it change my original sheets? No. The result is written to a new sheet.

Is my data safe? The add-on only accesses the spreadsheet you open it in and data never leaves Google Sheets. Privacy policy · Terms
